The Iowa City Swedish Club meets for traditional Swedish celebrations such as Lucia and Midsommar, as well as other events celebrating Swedish culture, heritage and history. The ICSC dates from 1978 when Miriam and Howard Laster (then Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, 1977 - 1984) created a conversation group whose purpose was to learn to speak Swedish. The Swedish Club, in continuous existence since 1978, now has a diverse program with contacts to many other Swedish-American organizations and Web Sites. |
